Despite Georgia ranking number two in the country for most startups by women, female entrepreneurs still face some challenges throughout their entrepreneurship journey. As Program Coordinator for ACE’s Women’s Business Center (WBC), Alejandra Diaz works to empower women no matter whether they have a business idea, or they already have an established business.
Diaz is usually the first point of contact for women seeking assistance – she coordinates all the training events and webinars for the WBC. Depending on the needs of each client she refers them to attend a specific training, view webinars, provides loan requirements information, connects them to other resources and also refers them to DreamBuilder, which is an online education business tool that ultimately results in the draft of a business plan and increases the knowledge of how to operate a business. “From there, I connect them with our business consultants who help guide entrepreneurs through any stage of business planning, implementation and growth.”
Diaz says she finds fulfillment in ACE’s mission. “I love to help other people, especially women! When someone starts with just a business idea and then I get to attend their grand opening, I get excited to see how that dream has become a reality,” she says.
The ACE Women’s Business Center, based in Norcross, GA, typically serves 1,500 clients a year.
Diaz was born in Mexico but grew up in Georgia. During her spare time outside of work she splits her time between yoga, taking her daughter to gymnastics & ballet, and spending time with her family. Her schedule gets busier later this month, as she starts classes to obtain her business degree.
