Football taught Anthony Flack many valuable lessons, starting with the importance of teamwork. “Working together is essential,” he says. “We win together; we lose together. No one person is to blame or credit for either.”

Flack, who was a defensive back for the Dallas Cowboys, also learned that “a good work ethic creates results,” and “luck is defined as when Preparation meets Opportunity.”

Today, he applies those principles to his role as a commercial loan officer for ACE. “I really enjoy having the opportunity to help business owners achieve their dreams,” he says.

Flack grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. He attended the University of Georgia on a football scholarship and earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing before getting drafted by the Cowboys. When his professional football career came to an end, he entered the world of retail banking in Atlanta. He has honed his skills at Bank of America and the Private Bank of Buckhead. He also worked in sales and marketing for the television channels A&E and the History Channel.

Flack came to ACE three years ago because of our lending priorities. “I really gravitated to ACE because it works so hard in underserved markets, lending a hand to minority business owners,” he says, “so ACE creates jobs and economic opportunity in those markets.”

Right now, he is especially pleased with the progress of do – pronounced “doe,” and spelled with a lowercase “d” – a high-concept, gourmet Atlanta restaurant that relies heavily on iPads and other eye-popping technology.  “They are delivering a cutting-edge product, which they wouldn’t have been able to do without our funding help,” he says, “and I can see the way they are creating new jobs and impacting their surrounding community for the better. It feels really good seeing this project come to fruition.”

When he is not hustling to help entrepreneurs, Flack enjoys working out and playing golf. He and his wife, Erica Flack, live in Conyers with their daughter, McKenzie, who he says is “13 going on 30.”  “Our daughter keeps us busy with cheerleading and Girl Scouts and a whole lot of other activities,” he says with a laugh. “There is always something going on.”
