Elizabeth Penney, director of the Academy for Green Micro-enterprise Development, visited Spokane, Washington, September 15, 2010, for a planning session with member SNAP Financial Access. This visit was the capstone of a year long project during which Penney and consultant Jason Friedman assisted SNAP in developing an action plan for their new project, Access Green Loans. SNAP is a CDFI and SBA micro-lender providing loans and technical assistance to small businesses in Spokane and the surrounding county. Of special concern to SNAP is the inclusion of very small and low income entrepreneurs in the burgeoning green economy.
