Georgia Department of Economic Development

From top-ranking colleges and universities to Georgia Quick Start — the No. 1 workforce development program in the country — Georgia invests in preparing talent. Locate or expand here, and you’ll find a versatile Georgia workforce that can meet a variety of needs. You’ll also be doing business in an employment-at-will and right-to-work state, with low unionization.

Georgia Quick Start

Quick Start provides customized workforce training to businesses as an incentive for companies investing in and creating jobs in Georgia. The program is offered at no cost to businesses and was established to attract new industries to the state.

Worksource Atlanta Regional

WorkSource Atlanta Regional, which is managed by ARC, maintains career resource centers that serve Cherokee, Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties. Professionals at these centers assist job-seekers with career assessment testing, job readiness training in areas such as effective communication and problem solving, job search training assistance and help locating approved training and education providers and registering for programs.

Georgia Department of Labor

The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) provides a range of services to job seekers and employers, including unemployment insurance, job matching, and labor market information. The department supports workforce development by helping individuals prepare for and connect with employment opportunities, while assisting businesses with recruiting and retaining qualified talent.

Goodwill of North Georgia – Career Services

Goodwill of North Georgia offers comprehensive free job training, career coaching, and employment services designed to help individuals build marketable skills and secure sustainable employment. Serving job seekers from all backgrounds — Goodwill provides training programs in high-demand fields such as retail, hospitality, technology, healthcare, construction, logistics, and more.

Worksource Georgia

WorkSource Georgia is the state’s federally funded employment and training system, administered by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). Through 17 local Workforce Development Areas (WDAs), WorkSource Georgia offers a range of services under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) to help individuals enhance their skills and secure employment.

Verizon Skill Forward

Provides you with the skills to pave your path to new career opportunities with job-relevant programs from edX, part of Verizon’s goal to make quality education accessible for all. Skill Forward is free for any participant during the 12 months with the program. Get in-demand skills for in-demand jobs, at no cost to you.

LinkedIn Learning

Available via Georgia Public Libraries. Free with a library card in participating library systems. Offers thousands of video courses in business, tech, and creative skills.

Coursera

Many Georgia libraries and workforce centers offer free access to Coursera’s professional certificates (Google IT, Meta Marketing, etc.)

Job Corps

Federally funded, free job training and education for youth in Georgia and nationwide. Includes residential and non-residential options.
