Visions Twined. Co-Founders Julie Tracy and Roya Reed envisioned a store embedded in a community. Julie, the daughter of Korean immigrants who came to the US in the early 80s, grew up in a non-English speaking working-class family. From a young age, she balanced the roles of child and adult, translating legal documents and bills for her parents. While working multiple jobs to put herself through college, she succeeded in a consulting career at a global firm. Roya, the daughter of an Iranian mother and English father, traveled widely as a child visiting family after the Iranian Revolution. Despite these travels, she often felt culturally isolated in St. Louis. This led her to earn a master’s degree in International Relations and Economics at Harvard University and pursue a career in Global Business Journalism.

COVID shifted this duo’s vision for their lives. After brainstorming, these Atlanta neighbors launched Moosh, a women’s home, and children’s boutique in Atlanta’s historic Virginia Highlands with an urbane sensibility reflecting their cultural heritage. Moosh offers women’s and children’s clothing, shoes, accessories, home decor, toys, and specialty baby gifts.

Business expansion. Changing the way they do business is why Tracy and Roya came to ACE. They understood the competitive nature of the retail industry and received a $100,000 loan from ACE. The funds helped with working capital, e-commerce growth, marketing, hiring employees, and expanding. Additionally, they received support from the ACE Metro Atlanta Women’s Business Center (WBC) and Business Advisory Services (BAS).
